Meet Kylie D.

Hi! My name is Kylie DesBouillons. I am a sophomore in college studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs where I also teach elementary students about STEM. I also am a Wellness Advocate for doTERRA and a youth sports official for the local community center. I live with my wonderful parents and three siblings. Growing up you would either find me on the softball field or curled up in a chair with my nose in a book, I never stepped outside of my comfort zone and always lived a very calm lifestyle but I’m looking forward for the exciting future ahead of me.

One of my biggest goals in life is to try something new whenever I get the chance. My goals for 2018 include learning calligraphy and learning to speak a new language(I chose Spanish because I learned some basics during high school.) I absolutely love Harry Potter, I have read the series at least ten times (my favorite book is the Order of the Phoenix). If you want to talk theories with me, I am always open to hearing new thoughts. My furry best friend is my lovely cat, Elsa Nightfurry, she always manages to make my day no matter how I am feeling and just like any animal she is very photogenic.

I just started my sophomore year of college in August and I figured the hardest struggle that I would have encountered was Calculus 2, I couldn’t have been more wrong. For about a year, I had this persistent cough that put a damper in everyday life and made it very difficult to do anything. When the cough got in the way of me being able to eat anytype of food, I finally decided that it was time to go to the doctors. Finally on August 31st, 2017, my worst fears were confirmed. On that day, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma, a form of blood cancer.  I have never been so scared in my life but I had no intentions of giving up thus my fight with cancer began. Since the beginning of September, I have had more surgeries and doctors visits than I had in my entire life. I have had seven chemo treatments and will be finishing my eighth chemo treatment in January. these past few months have been hectic but I am excited to finally be healthy again.

I decided to start a blog to share with others my battle with cancer, hopefully others who are fighting cancer will be able use my advise and be able to find the positive to make chemo easier for them. I also want to be able to inspire others to get up and try something new. My New Years Resolution is to learn five new things and I am looking forward to sharing with everyone everything I am going to be learning. Thank you for allowing me to achieve my goals.
