A Day in the Life of Kylie D.
I’d like to consider myself a pretty spontaneous person, I mean just yesterday I went and got a tattoo from the spur of a moment. So my day to day schedule doesn’t stay the same, which I am 100% okay with because I like the mystery in life. Anything and everything I do is in my plan and sometimes, even when I don’t realize it God is pushing me down the right path.
I wanted to give you guys an idea of what it is like to be me, for years my life revolved around going to the hospital or doctors appointments so now that I am done with treatments I try to make the best of everyday no matter the circumstances.
Since my day isn’t the same every day, I figured I would share what I do in the mornings and then go from there. I’ll tell you about the products I use and really just explain why I do what I do. Keep in mind that I am pretty spontaneous so each day changes (yes, I’ve already told you that but I want to make sure you know, that I don’t have the same schedule everyday)
Post PTSD treatment, I am actually getting sleep before I would get like 2-3 hours of sleep a night and now I am getting a full 8 hours plus some, each day I wake up at a different time especially this semester because I am only taking one class so over the summer and next semester I will be working and actually going to school full time so I will have a more steady wake up time.
On Mondays and Wednesdays, I usually sleep in until like 8:00-8:30 (when there is an almost 2 year old and an 8 year old running around, that is actually really good for me xD). The rest of the week I am up by 6:30, Saturdays it really just depends if I have work or not but I don’t like sleeping in that late over the weekend.
I don’t know if this is just me but I am not a morning person right as I wake up. I really need like a good 30 minutes to fully wake up from sleeping so long, I spend this time with God and just thank him for giving me another day on Earth and blessing my life. When I spend that time with God while I am fully waking up, my day just seems to be so much better and I love it. I love the feeling when I am in step with Christ, the world is just so beautiful that I love everything and everyone around me 10x more.
Alright, let’s get down to business. I mean it takes a little bit of work for me to not look like the troll that I do when I wake up. Each morning, I like to drink a glass of water or just some water from my water bottle and then I have to brush my teeth, I cannot not brush my teeth right away otherwise my mouth just feels dry and feels gross. After brushing my teeth, I go pour myself a cup of coffee (sometimes, not all the time, it’s maybe like two or three times a week that I actually have coffee) and sit on the couch drinking it. When I’m done with my coffee, I take doTERRA’s Life Long Vitality multivitamins to ensure that I have energy throughout the day. I have to eat breakfast when I take these vitamins and just because I really like cereal, I usually have a bowl of cereal with some almond milk (the almond milk makes it somewhat healthy)
When I am done eating breakfast, I go get dressed, no I do not have a special routine to getting dressed, LOL, usually I just go with a pair of jeans and a nice shirt but on the day that I do dress up, I look kinda cute. Before you ask, I like taking showers at night just because I sleep better that way, but on Mondays and Wednesdays since I sleep later, I take a shower in the morning. I like getting dressed before I go get ready in the bathroom but I don’t have a reason behind it, I think it’s just a habit. When I’m getting ready, I have no choice but to get my hair wet to style it and I have to style it otherwise I look like Medusa, no joke, it’s a bit scary. I put my hair up in a towel while I wash my face using doTERRA’s Facial Cleanser from the Essential Skin Care Line. I then moisturize my face with the Hydrating Cream, which I modified by putting 10 drops of YarrowPom in the container. My face feels clean all the time and on the plus side, I have little to no blemishes on my face so it is always clear.
To much of everyone’s surprise, I actually do wear make-up (I only say this because I didn’t start wearing it until a few months ago) , go ahead mom, you can text me and say what you always say “wow!! Look at you acting like a girl” but yes, I don’t wear a lot but just enough that I can tell. And that’s about all that my morning contains of, I mean on days I don’t have class or work, I do watch GMA and Live with Kelly and Ryan but other than that I really just try to be productive by either working on my book or on blog posts.
This is where nothing is ever the same. Sometimes I have work, sometimes I just stay home and now that the weather is getting nicer (well, as nice as Colorado weather gets) I try to go on a nature walk on most days. I love being outside so the plus of being a referee during spring, summer and fall seasons I get to be outside everyday. I usually work on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays at my job on campus but the view is so beautiful and I love my job, so I’m not really bothered by it. If it’s rainy outside I either just go home after work or go to Starbucks to work on my blog posts. I really like the vibes at Starbucks, it is peaceful and I could spend hours here. Well and some days, I go to the gym but I am not like a gym fanatic, I’d rather hike to stay in shape than live my life in the gym.
I don’t have a set routine and I’ll say it again, I just try to make the best out of everyday by being productive or taking a mental health break, there are days that I don’t do anything but I get everything done when I need it to be done. Whatever I am doing, I am always listening to worship music, I seem to get more done when I am listening to this type of music, my favorite song is called Tremble by Mosaic MSC, you should definitely listen to it, especially if you are having a hard day. I love listening to music and if that’s all I do one day, I have no doubt in my mind that it was exactly what I needed.
Recently, I have become a night owl, but like an early night owl because most nights I am in bed by 9:00. Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays are days I am usually out late late but it’s because when you actually put yourself out there you make friends, I know a shocker right? I struggled finding friends for year but the once I got over my insecurity that nobody wanted to be friends with a cancer patient, I became more comfortable with putting myself out there and honestly a lot of people think it’s pretty bad ass that I beat cancer.
I like going out some nights but most of the time it either going to church or game night at someone’s house, I don’t drink a lot so there’s no point in going out on the town and if I do drink, I am at home, it’s a glass of wine and I am watching a movie or comedy shows, (if you have Netflix, watch the new Kevin Hart Redemption one, it is hilarious). Most nights, I stay home and do my homework, eat dinner and then get ready for bed. I like to save my more exciting events for the afternoon, just because it is so beautiful outside.
When I said I am in bed by 9:00, I wasn’t lying, some nights it is earlier but no earlier than 8:30 (I sure do love my sleep). My bedtime routine is pretty simple, I go take a shower, since I sleep better at night. I use the doTERRA shampoo and conditioner, I love using these because my hair has never been healthier since losing it plus it is longer than what it has been in years. In my shampoo, I like putting Rosemary, Lavender, Peppermint and Lime Essential Oils in it, just to give my hair an extra boost. I use the doTERRA Exfoliating Scrub once a week to keep my skin healthy and soft, and then the doTERRA body wash. My shower is pretty simple, I do jam out to some music because like I said earlier, I do love my music. When I get out of the shower I put doTERRA’s Root to Tip Serum in my hair while it is damp and the moisturize with doTERRA’s Replenishing Body Butter. I brush my teeth and then fill my water bottle up and usually when I get into bed, I either read a fun book or read some scriptures in my bible. And then I go to bed.
There you have it, you just survived a day in the life of Kylie D. my schedule is a little crazy but I like it because I make my own schedule and I am not tied down. I live my life as happy and as exciting as I want which I am okay with. For so long, I did what other people expected me to do. I lived a strangers life instead of mine and I got tired of it. You gotta live the life that you want and follow your heart as to what feels right. Go out and do something crazy and like I always tell my friends “Don’t do anything that I wouldn’t do”
